What is NCYC?
The National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) is an exciting, annual four-day experience of prayer, community, and empowerment for Catholic teenagers and their adult chaperones. The schedule includes general and concurrent sessions addressing a wide variety of topics including forgiveness, Catholic spirituality and prayer, global issues, sexuality, and leadership. There are also opportunities for liturgy and special activities such as concerts, exhibits, and a thematic activity village. The National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM) sponsors NCYC.
The 2021 NCYC was held in Indianapolis Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana on November 19-21, 2021. "News reports about COVID-19 are everywhere. The National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM). It will be held annually beginning this year in November 2022 in Long Beach, Californina. As this was not planned and interest has been slight (but loud) we will wait to take group in November 2023.
The NCYC mission: to provide a distinctly Catholic environment in which participants are invited to encounter Christ, experience Church, and be empowered for discipleship.
How big is NCYC?
NCYC is America’s largest regular gathering of Catholic teens. NCYC 2021 was limiting attendance to 12,000 Catholic youth and chaperones. Around 300 youth, youth ministers and chaperones attended NCYC from our Diocese.
Can anyone attend?
NCYC requires that youth participants must be in high school at the time of NCYC (November 2022). They are often leaders in our local parishes and/or schools, though many are just beginning to connect with their faith. Current 8th graders (Class of 2025) will be eligible for NCYC since they will be freshmen in the fall of 2021.

Will participants miss any school?
NCYC high school participants miss two days of school – Thursday and Friday. Past attendees have maintain that NCYC is well worth the absences and the aftermath. We understand that this is a burden but feel that NCYC is a unique opportunity. You must make arrangements for your absence from school. The NFCYM will provided a letter that students can bring to school officials in the fall to explain the great value in attending NCYC. Neither the NFCYM nor the diocese has any control over our schools allowing or disallowing excused absences for NCYC.
